Much like life, there are stages to grief.
Every Sunday comes around and I tell myself I'm winning a weekly badge card, much like an alcoholic who has become sober. It's been 2 weeks since we last ended things, that were meant to be have ended earlier last year.
Today I typed your name out in my email's search bar and while I went through the contents of it all - mostly flight and hotel room bookings, and earlier exchange of photos before whats app, I realized something - that I felt absolutely nothing. There was no anger, no hate, so self-pity and not even a single morsel of fondness for the face I saw in those pictures. Heartache used to be my biggest inspiration before, but I look at the remains of what's left of us as a sordid uninspiring mess, something that you chose to do. Which I have no regrets about anymore, in fact I see how rightly deserved this exit has been.
The older you get, you're more equipped with strength and wisdom to deal with heartbreak. I don't look back at past to see what I lost when we were together. I look at the wisdom I have gained and here's a little 'Thank you', for mostly teaching me the lessons that you have by just being your uncharming self.
1. It takes real courage to be a man and there's something so damn sexy about being a real man.
2. If you can't pack your own suitcase, then probably you won't be responsible enough to keep up your end of the bargain in a relationship.
3. Never, ever, short sell yourself for anyone. You're perfect and lovely just the way you are.
4. Never doubt that you're good enough for anyone. Don't change your appearances, or intellect, just to please anyone.
5. Never ever settle for anyone who does not intellectually stimulate you in anyway.
6. People who are honest will be forthcoming and open to conversations and clearing things out.
7. Strong men are sexy.
8. I am way more than what I give myself credit for.
9. Lastly, for making me fall in love with myself all over again.
